the farm

Our grandfather, Natale, had a small farm of 3 hectares near Lucignano where his family had lived for several generations.
Primo, our father, guided the growth of the business to its current size of 100 hectares located across the Sienese and Aretine regions of the Chiana Valley in locations which were primarily devoted to growing grains.
We, the children Paola and Susanna, were already involved in the farms before the early death of our father and have been focusing over the last 10 years in modernizing the enterprise, broadening the production and reducing the environmental impact.
As part of this evolution of our enterprise, the move to organic farming was seen as a natural progression, not simply to return to the past for nostalgic reasons but out of concern for the environment and to minimize the risk of exhausting the land, which is where the conventional farming techniques were heading, and to minimize the risk to ourselves and those who eat our products.
Currently, the Agricola Cepina enterprise manages 11 hectares of Chianti and Igt vineyards and, 2 hectares of olives and other farms producing grains and vegetables.

In our endeavours to modernize and diversify further our business, we couldnt ignore the opportunity to undertake Agri-turismo initiatives, necessitating the provision of buildings accommodating groups ranging from 2 to 20 people.

structures

Villa Poggio le Vignacce is set on an olive-covered hill in the heart of the Chiana Valley near Marciano della Chiana, an ancient medieval town of historical renown, as it was the site of the Battle of Scannagallo. The villa provides a panorama of the valley, with Cortona, Castiglion Fiorentino and the Montecchio Castle in the distance.
The elegant old villa still conserves signs of its past splendour in the frescos discovered during the recent restoration. There is also a small Cottage beside the main building.
The villa is surrounded by a two-hectare garden with meadows, olive trees and a natural wood of ash, oaks and old cypresses. A large swimming pool completes this scenic part of the Chiana Valley.
Ideal for rest and relaxation, the villa is also strategically positioned to reach the most important artistic cities of central Italy: Rome, Florence, Cortona, Arezzo, Perugia, Assisi, Siena, Montalcino, Pienza.
From Lucignano, travelling along a picturesque road winding through the hills that form the natural border between the Aretine and Sienese parts of the Valdichiana (Chiana Valley), we find theVilla Bellaria
Located on a hill surrounded by olive trees, the house enjoys captivating views which are truly characteristic of Tuscany: olive groves and natural forest.
The house has been recently renovated to offer our guests a welcoming abode, well-appointed in comfort and style but respecting the natural environment, using low-impact environmental solutions such as a ventilated roof space, solar hot water, dual water systems and rainwater tanks, and solar panels which produce sufficient electricity to meet all of the houses needs, including air-conditioning in the summer and heating in the winter.
Villa Bellaria is ideal for those who wish to spend a quiet and peaceful holiday in the Tuscan countryside and also have easy access to the cultural and tourist attractions of the region. Lucignano, which is only 2 kilometres away, is a fascinating mediaeval village which retains it original and unique elliptical plan. Its concentrically aligned streets provide wonderful scenes and superb photo opportunities at each turn. Lucignanos small museum has a rich array of precious and interesting objects, and you can visit the 14th century church of San Francesco which has frescoes by Bartolo di Fredi. Additionally, Lucignano is also located close to major roads and public transport providing easy access to some of the most important art cities in central Italy.
Santa Fausta is part of an old farmhouse situated on top of a hill which offers a beautiful view on the most pristine of the medieval village of Lucignano, from which is a few hundred meters, and can be reached on foot.
Lucignano is a beautiful medieval village with its characteristic and unique oval in its concentric streets every corner and a picture is worth a visit. The small museum is full of precious things, and you can visit the beautiful fourteenth-century church of St. Francis, with frescoes by Bartolo di Fredi.
It 's also ideally located close to major roads and railways that connect, in a short time, the most important art cities of central Italy.
